Healthy Greek Yogurt French Onion Dip
I’m on a roll here with dips, and after perfecting my healthy ranch, naturally I had to move on to a french onion dip. I am a dip person through and through. I know, not everyone shares this sentiment. Give me all the sauce, dips, and anything that’s going to add some good flavour and excitement. Chopped veg are great, but they’re not going to cut it alone as a snack for me.. but add a dip and I am for SURE into it. Those veg are just a vessel, you know? Typically french onion dips are packed with sketchy ingredients you don’t understand and are sour cream based if they are fresh. There’s nothing wrong with sour cream, especially if it’s an organic, grass fed variety (yay for Vitamin K), but swapping the sour cream for greek yogurt gives this classic a protein boost and allows you to enjoy a whole lot more of the dip without consuming your daily calorie intake. If you’re dairy free, an unsweetened cashew, almond, or coconut yogurt would work here, though it won’t be as creamy. You could also swap in coconut cream with a bit of lemon juice for that tang, if you don’t want to miss out on that creaminess.

To make this recipe dairy free, sub cashew, almond, or coconut yogurt for the greek yogurt. Alternatively, use the same amount of full fat coconut cream, with a tablespoon of lemon juice.

Ingredients
  • 1 3/4 cup greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup avocado oil mayonnaise or heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup dried onion flakes or 4 tsp onion powder
  • dash of worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • salt + pepper
Directions
  • Step 1 Stir all ingredients together well.
  • Step 2 Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 3 Serve with chopped veggies or crackers.
